FON IS SAFE

Unlike other routers, the FON WiFi router is secure out-of-the-box. When you connect it to your broadband, router creates two secured WiFi signals:

  1. One encrypted for your own private use
  2. A second for all other registered FON Community members

Only as the FON Spot owner or a registered FON Member can you access a FON WiFi signal.

The private, encrypted signal (by default called MyPlace) is yours alone, and only you have the password and can access it and your private network.

The public FON signal (by default called "FON_AP" // "FON_FREE_INTERNET"), is only accessible to FON Community members. All FON Community members must register with FON and are required to enter their username and password each time they access a FON Spot. FON members can access the internet, but cannot access your private ‘MyPlace’ signal or your private network.
